The summit forum titled "Intelligent Hardware AI+—Empowering the Smart Home Appliance Industry and Robot Industry with Artificial Intelligence Technology" hosted by the School of Economics and Management was successfully held in Shenzhen.

On May 24, 2025, the summit forum entitled "Intelligent Hardware AI+—Empowering the Smart Home Appliance Industry and Robot Industry with Artificial Intelligence Technology" was successfully held in Shenzhen. Hosted by the School of Management of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and undertaken by the Shenzhen Alumni Association of HIT School of  Management and the HIT Entrepreneurs Association, to conduct in-depth discussions on the applications of AI technology and the future of related industries.

Eminent Guests Gather to a New Chapter for the Industry

Huang Yudong,Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), and President of HIT (Shenzhen), relevant leaders of the School of Management across HIT's three campuses, and guests from enterprises including Huawei, KaiHong, UBTECH, Konka, and Midea attended the forum. The forum was chaired by Wang Jian, Dean of the School of Management at HIT, and Wang Shixuan, Associate Dean of the School of Management at HIT (Shenzhen).

Huang Yudong: Anchoring the Strategic Direction

Huang Yudong outlined HIT's century-long history in his speech, emphasizing the development philosophy of "open innovation and integration of industry and education". He pointed out that artificial intelligence is a key field in global scientific and technological competition. Relying on its disciplinary advantages, HIT will deepen international cooperation and technological research to help Chinese enterprises gain commanding heights in the global industrial chain, laying a strategic foundation for the forum.

Wang Jian: Building a Collaborative Platform

In his opening speech, Dean Wang Jian pointed out that the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy is reshaping the industrial landscape. As a highland of innovation, Shenzhen is accelerating the layout of AI and intelligent hardware industries in the role of a "Pioneer City." The forum aims to build a collaborative platform for industry, academia, and research to unlock new codes for industrial upgrading.

Keynote Speech: Decoding the Technological Frontier

Li Zhijun: Innovative Breakthroughs in Robot Intelligent Operating Systems

Li Zhijun, a professor at the Faculty of Computing, HIT, delivered a speech titled "Development and Application of Robot Intelligent Operating Systems", revealing the technical framework of the insightOS system. Through its modules of "Intent Interaction + Dynamic Decision-making + Capability Self-Healing", the system has compressed the development cycle for new robot tasks from 10 person-months to 1 person-day. It also achieves data privacy protection and improves collaborative efficiency in industrial scenarios, providing an autonomous and controllable system-level solution for intelligent manufacturing.

Jiao Jichao: Industrial Practices of Embodied Intelligence Robots

Jiao Jichao, Vice President and Dean of the Research Institute of UBtech, shared "Industry Trends and Innovative Applications of Embodied Intelligence Robots", demonstrating the global first multi-robot collaborative training achievement of the Walker S1 robot in the Zeekr factory. Its "cloud brain + local cerebellum" framework confirms the disruptive value of "AI + robotics" for the manufacturing industry.

Wang Chenglu: The Vision of All-Things Intelligent Connection in the OpenHarmony Ecosystem

Dr. Wang Chenglu, CEO of Shenzhen Kaihong Digital Industry Development Co., Ltd., interpreted "Kaihong's Secure Digital Foundation Empowers Smart Hardware Innovation", pointing out that the open-source HarmonyOS is driving the transformation from "connecting people to people" to "connecting people to things". It provides ecological support of "one-time development, multi-terminal deployment", helping enterprises gain a first-mover advantage in the era of all-things intelligent connection.

Roundtable Forum: Colliding Industrial Wisdom

Hosted by Shi Jianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Management at Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), the roundtable forum delved into topics such as "Challenges in AI Technology Implementation",and "Technological Breakthroughs in the Next Decade".

Director Huang Zhen provided a detailed interpretation by integrating Shenzhen Municipal Government's policies and support for technological innovation enterprises, as well as the city's funding support for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises over the past decade. Enterprise representatives including Cao Shiping, President of Konka Group, and Zhong Zheng, Vice President of Midea Group, explored the application of AI in user experience optimization and cross-industry collaboration based on smart home appliance practices. Guests such as Wang Yongkun, Chairman of Standard Robots, and Yu Shunzhou, Chairman of Core Medical, shared the differentiated R&D logics of AI technology in industrial and medical scenarios. Professor Li Zhijun from Harbin Institute of Technology interpreted the technical correlation between embodied intelligence and epistemic intelligence, and envisioned the directions for robots to serve humanity.

Closing Outlook: Co-drawing the Industrial Blueprint

The forum concluded successfully in a warm atmosphere. In his summary, Wang Jian stated that the forum had gathered in-depth insights from academia and practical experience from industry, providing new ideas for the integrated development of smart hardware and AI technology. In the future, Harbin Institute of Technology will continue to leverage its advantages in industry-academia-research collaboration, work hand in hand with enterprises to promote the large-scale application of AI technology in fields such as smart home appliances and robots, and help Chinese industries win in global competition.
